Cooked cabbage · 250 g
Leave the cooked cabbage to drain in the colander for a couple of minutes.

Squeeze the cabbage firmly with your hands to press out as much moisture as possible.

Tip the cold mashed potato into the colander and break up any lumps.
Mashed potato · 500 g
Let any liquid that has gathered around the mashed potato drain away.

Add the mashed potato to the squeezed cabbage in the mixing bowl.

Add the cooked diced onion from the frying pan to the mashed potato and squeezed cooked cabbage in the mixing bowl.

Salt · 1 tsp
Add the black pepper to the seasoned floury mixture.
Ground black pepper · 0.5 tsp
Mix all the ingredients together until thoroughly combined into a uniform mixture.

Divide the bubble and squeak mixture into equal portions and press each one firmly between your palms into a round, flat patty about 2 cm thick.

Carefully lower the shaped patties into the hot oil in the frying pan.

Pan-fry the patties over a medium heat without moving them until the underside is deep golden and crisp.

Slide a spatula under each patty and flip it over in one confident motion.

Pan-fry the patties on the second side until golden and crisp all over and heated through.
