Naan Bread
Soft, pillowy flatbreads with a blistered, charred crust, finished with a fragrant garlic butter and fresh parsley. These naans sit somewhere between the tandoor-style breads of a restaurant and something genuinely achievable at home in a frying pan. Equally at ease mopping up a curry, wrapping grilled meat, or arriving at the table on their own as a serious piece of bread.

Add the warm water to the yeast bowl
Add the fast-action dried yeast to the yeast bowl
Add caster sugar
Whisk the warm water and fast-action dried yeast and caster sugar
Peel a garlic clove the 2 garlic cloves
Add the strong white bread flour to the mixing bowl
Add salt
Add baking powder
Stir the strong white bread flour and salt and baking powder
Add the natural yoghurt to the mixing bowl
Add the vegetable oil to the mixing bowl
Stir the flour mixture
Transfer the frothy yeast mixture from the yeast bowl into the mixing bowl
Mix the flour mixture and frothy yeast mixture
Transfer the shaggy dough from the mixing bowl to the kitchen counter
Knead the shaggy dough
Transfer the kneaded dough from the kitchen counter into the mixing bowl
Cover the kneaded dough with the tea towel
Melt the unsalted butter
Add the minced garlic cloves to the saucepan
Sauté the garlic clove mixture
Set aside the garlic clove mixture in the garlic clove bowl
Chop flat-leaf parsley
Shape the proved dough
Heat the vegetable oil
Add the rolled naan ovals from the kitchen counter to the frying pan
Pan-fry the naan
Flip the naan first side cooked
Pan-fry the flipped naan
Transfer the cooked naan from the frying pan onto the plate
Brush the cooked naan with the garlic clove mixture
Scatter the chopped parsley over the garlic butter naan
